Deposits
Tata Steel Minerals Canada’s strength lies in its diverse portfolio of iron ore deposits spread across the Quebec–Newfoundland and Labrador Peninsula. Located within the geologically rich Labrador Trough, these deposits form the backbone of our current operations and future expansion plans.
Our deposits host both hematite and magnetite mineralization, known for their high iron content and consistent quality. This resource diversity allows us to adapt to market demands while maintaining the quality standards our customers expect.
With multiple deposits strategically positioned, we benefit from:
Through ongoing exploration and resource evaluation, TSMC continues to identify and develop new deposits, ensuring a strong foundation for future growth and supply to global markets.
Mine Sites
Tata Steel Minerals Canada’s active operations focus on three key sites that form the core of our current production:

Ore from all sites is transported by haul trucks to our beneficiation facilities in Newfoundland and Labrador, ensuring efficient movement from pit to processing. This streamlined operation reduces risk, optimizes production, and supports reliable supply to global markets.
Processing
Our state-of-the-art beneficiation facilities in Newfoundland and Labrador are designed to transform extracted ore into a high-quality product that meets the strict specifications of global markets.

Using advanced crushing, screening, and separation technologies, we upgrade the raw ore from our mine sites into premium-grade iron ore with consistent chemical composition and sizing. This ensures optimal performance for steelmaking and other industrial applications.
Key benefits of our processing approach include:
From beneficiation to loading for shipment, our integrated processing chain supports TSMC’s commitment to delivering reliable, top-tier iron ore to customers worldwide.
Integrated Logistics
TSMC’s integrated logistics network connects our processing facilities directly to global shipping routes, ensuring efficient, reliable delivery of our iron ore products. Processed ore moves from our beneficiation facilities via dedicated rail links to deep-water port facilities, where it is loaded for export to international markets.
Key advantages:

Ore from all sites is transported by haul trucks to our beneficiation facilities in Newfoundland and Labrador, ensuring efficient movement from pit to processing. This streamlined operation reduces risk, optimizes production, and supports reliable supply to global markets.
